The Ultimate Flash Game Resource Post
As Flash developers will know, when it comes to creating a game it is unlikely to have every asset needed at hand when you need them most. With this big list of Flash game creation related links, I plan to put everything in one place for the aspiring game maker, so you never need to trawl the internet for a single sound or graphic ever again.
Just a quick heads up, this list will be constantly updated, so it’s worth bookmarking for your own good!
- Graphic Resources
Ammu-nation – Your one stop shop for free gun .flas. It hasn’t been updated in a while but it’s there and all the links still work.
FlashIndustries – They have many user submitted .fla files in the way of graphics and Actionscript, well worth a look.
- Sprite Resources
The Spriter’s Resource – Plenty of old-school sprite sheets available, all split into categories of which console they come from.
Sprite Database – A seemingly massive collection of sprite sheets, again divided into the console they were ripped from.
Pixel Warehouse – Not the biggest resource site out there, but you might find something you like.
- Sound Resources
Soundsnap – This website is great, and features many professional quality sounds. You get 5 free per day, unless you sign up with them.
Flashkit – This site features many great sounds divided into categories and is completely free.
NG Audio Portal – Newgrounds offers a portal for musicians as well as Flash game creators, and you’re free to use the submitted music as you wish within the Creative Commons license. The only place you need to go for music.
SoundDogs.com - A searchable database of sounds. Download low quality for free or purchase the sounds in high quality for a small price.
- Monetization
Mochiads – Slap some ads on your game, get free distribution and start making some cash from your flash game.
Newgrounds – Once again, Newgrounds makes an appearance on this list. This time it’s because of the great API they offer for monetizing your flash game. You need to register and be logged in to use this service.
Gamejacket – Another site that offers developers the chance to distribute their ad branded game. Update 11/06/09: It appears the company has ceased trading.
FlashGameLicense – Best described as an eBay for Flash game developers, just post your game up and wait for a sponsor to make a bid on it.
FlashGameDistribution – If you use the site above, you can also distribute your game after licensing it to a sponsor, creating another channel for making money from your game.
- Top Portals
Newgrounds – The most popular Flash game portal on the web.
Kongregate – A unique site with a dedicated user base and can provide vital hits for your game.

You could put Xgen on the list for portals. They have a huge traffic list, their games don’t get updated often so a new game will stay on the list for a while, and their MMOcha server is great for multiplayer games.
